DET's aims are to develop common vision of ET and its functioning in the Kerala context with the help of experts in the field of IT. It develops the curriculum, syllabus, text books, hand books for teachers, evaluation tools, and other teaching learning materials for IT education in High School level. It also provides technological support to all other departments of SCERT. DET is working in association with IT@School project, SIET etc. It gives academic leadership for the training of IT Master Trainers and School IT Coordinators to implement IT education in schools, using computers as a tool for acquiring and using information and knowledge. Development of story board for resource CDs for various subjects in high school classes is another contribution of DET.
